    James K Polk was the one to ask Congress for permission to attack Mexico. This was the beginning of the war.
  • Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo

    This was the Treaty that ended the Mexican American War. It gave America most of the Southwesten region that we have today.
  • Gadsen Purchase

    The Gadsen Purchase was territory that the United States purchased from Mexico. They bought it for 3 million dollars.
  • First Undocumented Mexicans

    A train brought a lorge ammount of undocumented immigrants to Arizona in 1882
  • Mesican Revolution

    The Mexican Revolution drove throusands of Mexicans into the United States. They all came illegally.
  • First mounted inspectors at borders.

    In March of 1915, the first mounted watchmen were put on the border to watch for illegal immigrants trying to cross the southwest borders.
  • Border Patrol established

    Congress established Border Patrol to look out for the borders in between inspection stations.
  • Bracero Program

    The United States brought in hundreds of Mexican workers to work in fieds after the great depression.
  • Bracero Program Ends

    The Bracero Program ended in 1964 but undocumented workers continued to pour in from Mexico
  • Immigration Act of 1965

    This law lefted restrictions on the number of certain races that were allowed in America. Theis opened the borders for more people to come into America.
  • Joe Arpaio is Elected

    Joe Arpaio is elected sherrif of Maricopia county. He holds very strong views against undocumented immigrants. He has been sherrif ever since.
  • North American Free Trade Agreement

    The NAFTA partnered with the collaspe of the Mexican economy and over the next 15 years brought 13 million undocumented immigrants.
  • "Minuteman Project" Begins

    Arizona began recruiting civilians to help patrol the border
  • SB1070 passed

    SB1070 is an Arizona Senate Bill that says officers can ask for documentation if a person is pulled over.
