    IFAB is founded in Britan to oversee the rules of the game.

    The Football League is established in England with the 12 founding members becoming the worlds first soccer league.

  • Federation Internalionale de Football Association

    FIFA is formed in Paris, France.

  • Summer Olympics

    First successful international competion held at the 1908 Summer Olympics in Belgium with the host nation winning.

  • World Cup

    First World Cup is held in Motevideo, Uruguay sees host nation becomes the first World Cup winner. Beating Argentina 4-2.

  • Laws

    Laws are amended to allow substitutions for the first time only for an injuried goalie and one player.

  • World Cup expansion

    The World Cup expanded to include 24 teams for the first time.
