  • Charter of 1732

    The charter of 1732 created the colony of Georgia, It was granted by King George II. Reasons for making a colony was to help the poor that were worthy, become a buffer against the spanish from florida, and to produce wine and silk. Two things prohibited by the charter were slavery and rum. Three types of people banned for the colony were African american, Catholics and Lawyers. The charter of 1732 put 21 people as trustees at a time. In total there were 71. The three reasons for making a colony

    Were Charity, Gold, and Defense. The Charte of 1732 was granted to James Ogelthorpe by King George II. Restrictions applied to trustees, they couldn't run for office, they could not own land, and they couldn't be payed to be a trustee.

  • Founding Of Savannah

    The first city founded in Georgia was Savannah. James Oglethorpe was the founder of the city. Oglethorpe and his men sailed on the Anne. Chief Tomochichi gave them permission to land. Oglethorpe and Tomochichi comunicated through Mary Musgrove.
  • Founding of Ebenezer

    Oglethorpe offered refuge for the Potestants in the colony, they founded the city of Ebenezer. The protestants were expelled from Australia for their religous beliefs.
  • The Founding of Darien

    The town was established by the Scottish Highlanders. Oglethorpe recruited them for defense.
  • Battle Of Bloody Marsh

    Genral Oglethorpe led them in the battle of bloody marsh. The Georgia colonist fought the Spanish. The Patriot won the battle. They were helped by Enlish rangers, citizens, and indians. Morale of the spanish suffered.
  • Georgia becomes a Royal colony

    People who complained about the trustees were called Malcontents. Complaints against the trustees included the limits on land ownership, and the prohibitions on rum and slavery. John Reynolds was incharge when georgia became a royal colony.
    Georgia's 3 royal govoners are: John Reynolds, Henry Ellis, and James Wright.
  • French Indian War

    The French, Indians and British fought in the seven years war. The British won the war. The winning side gained land. The debt that Britain was put into was most likely the cause of the American Revolution.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    The proclomation of 1763 gave western land to the Indians. King George's reason to give them land was to not have to fight with them anymore after the war. The colonist were angry because their land was given to the Indians.
  • Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act taxed any paper products. The British passed the Stamp Act to pay for the debt caused by the French and Indian war. The colonist were angry because they believed the did not have to pay for Britains problems.
