    Charter of 1732
    The charter of 1732 founded Georgia. King George II was the one who granted it to James Oglethorpe. The 3 reason for founding Georgia were charity, economics, and defense. Rum and slavery were prohibited fo Georgia at first. Lawyers, blacks, and catholics were prohibited from Georgia as well. This charter put the 21 trustees in charge of Georgia. The charter did have restrictions on the trustees though. These were that they could not hold office, could not own land, and could not get paid.

  • Founding of Savannah

    Founding of Savannah
    Savannah was the first founded city of Georgia and James Oglethorpe was the man who founded it. He sailed over to Georgia on his Ship Ann. When they arrived, they needed a place to land, and Indian Chief Tomochichi granted them permission to land on the Yamacraw Bluff. They communicated with him with a translator named Mary Musgrove.

    The city of Ebenezer was founded by a group of people called the Salzburgers. They came from a country named Salzburg which is now present day Austria. They came because they were Protestants who wanted religous freedom.

    Darien was founded by the Highland Scots. The Highland Scots were very brutal warriors you could say. They fighting tactics were superb and they proves to be victorious in their battles. This is why Georgia invited or recruited them, for their great fighting skills.

    lGeneral James Oglethorpe led the Georgia colonists in the Battle of The Bloody Marsh. Georgia fought agaisnt Spain in this battle and we came out on top. The Highland Scots were a big reason why Georgia won this battle. They helped nd fought right along side Georgia and contributed a lot. This battle was important because after Georgia won, Spain was no longer a threat to Georgia.

    The Macontents were always angry with the Trustees.Their complaints were hat you could not hae any sves, coul not drink beer, andthere wasno land inheritance. John Renolds was incharge when Geogia became a royal colony and the next two Royal Governors were Henr Elli and James Wright.

    This war was afought between the French and the British. The British came out victorious and they got all of France's ;and in return. This was a cause of the American Revolution because the British went into debt after the war and taxed ONLY the colonies for the money they needed.

    The Proclamation of 1763
    This document gave all of the land that the British had won in the French and Indian War to the the Indians in North America. King George's reasoning for this was so he didn't have to fight a whole nother war with the Indians. The colonists were unhappy with this decision though because they were getting crowded and need more space to farm and spread out.

    The Stamp Act taxed all paper products such as cards, newspapers, etc. The British passed this to help pay for the French and Indian War. The colonists were angry about this because they were the pnly ones being taxed by this and it was unfair.

    After the colonists participated in the Boston Tea Party and were boycotting letters and paper products, the British passed the Intolerable Act as their punishment to keep them in line. There were 4 acts or laws which included the Quatering Act, the Boston Ports Act, The Massachusetts government act, and the administration of justice act. The worst one was the quartering act which made colonists let british soldiers into their homes and feed them.

    The Declaration of Independence was mainly written by Thomas Jefferson. It stated that the colonies were no longer going to be under the control of Great Brittain and that they were going to be independent from then on. The three men from Georgia that signed it were Lyman Hall, Button Gwinett, and George Walton
  • The Battle of Kettle Creek

    The Battle of Kettle Creek
    The British won this battle and were led by Elijah Clarke. Austin Dabney was the only Black soldier to fight in this battle. Austin Dabney recieved lots of land and his freedom in return for his service in the Battle of Kettle Creek.
  • The Siege of Savannah

    The Siege of Savannah
    Before they were attacked, the British had control of Savannah. The patriots, accompanied by the French, attacked the British in hope to take control of Savannah, but their efforts proved unsuccessful and in the end, the British remained in control of Savannah.
