  • Proclaimation of Neutrality

    Proclaimation of Neutrality
    The Proclaimation of Neutrality demands that the U.S. would Remain neutral between other nations conflicts. Since the U.S. was not getting involved between the war with Brittan and France, Great Brittan impressed U.S. sailors into their navy. This prevented trade with France which lead to the War of 1812.
  • Alien and Sedition Acts

    Alien and Sedition Acts
    The Alien and Sedition Acts was made in 1798. The Naturalization Act required a foreigner to live in the U.S. for 14 years before becoming a citizen. Many other states made laws opposing the Alien and Sedition Acts a violation of freedom.
  • War With Tripoli

    War With Tripoli
    Thomas Jefferson and Tripoli had an agreement that the U.S. would pay Tripoli money for protection from pirate attacks. The U.S. stopped paying because the demands were getting too high. They got into a war on May 14th, 1801 and it ended in June of 1805 when they signed a peace treaty. After the war, Thomas increased the size of the navy.
  • Lousiana Purchase

    Lousiana Purchase
    Thomas Jefferson bought land at a price of $15,000,000/$0.03 per acre an this doubled the size of the U.S. He sent Lewis and Clark to explore this land. This made us have most of the land we own in the U.S.
  • War of 1812

    War of 1812
    Great Brittan was in a war with France and the Brittish invaded Washington D.C. in August 1814. They then signed a peace treaty in 1814, ending the war. Andrew Jackson and William Henery Harison were considered heros. When this happened the U.S. became more independant from Europe and developed a better sense of our national identity.
  • Monroe Doctrine

    Monroe Doctrine
    Monarches in Europe threatened to stamp out represtive government and because of this James Monroe made his famous policy called the Monroe Doctrine. The Monroe Doctrine still shapes the U.S. to this day.
  • Tariff of Abominations

    Tariff of Abominations
    John Quincy Adams aproved the Tariff of 1828 which made foreign goods more expensive to buy. The purpose was to protect the factories. The U.S. ended up losing money because people weren't buying goods from the southern states.
  • Trail of Tears

    Trail of Tears
    Andrew Jackson did nothing to stop Americans from farming on te Native American lands. He pushed the Indian Removal Act in 183. The Cheroke was forced to march to the Indian lands. This long trail march killed many people.
