    Stalin orders a blockade to be put up in order to divide West Germany and Berlin in hopes of starving out the French, British, and American forces within Berlin. The Western countries then launch what is known as the "Berlin Airlift" in order to airdrop food and supplies to the people being affected by the blockade. Berlin Airlift is successful.

    The National Aeronautics and Space Administrations is formed.

    Soviet Union successfully launches Vostok 1 and becomes the leaders in the "Space Race" with America.
  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    Secretly, the soviets have been installing military basis with nuclear weapons on Cuba, about 90 miles out from U.S. land. A naval blockade is ordered from Kennedy and eventually the Soviets and United States come to a compromise to each withdraw their nuclear weapons from countries surrounding each mainland.
