  • Yalta Conference

    Yalta Conference
    Post war meeting with the leaders from the United States, Britain, and the Soviet Union. They agreed to divide Germany into zones of occupations controlled by the Allied military forces.
  • End of World War 2

    End of World War 2
    This was the end of world war after, after the US dropped 2 bombs n Japan, which led them to do nothing but surrender to the US and was forced to sign the treaty among the US Missouri ship in Japan Bay.
  • The Containment Policy

    This was adopted by President Truman, in which he tried to block Soviet influence and stopping the expansion of communism.
  • Marshall Plan

    Marshall Plan
    This plan was to help aid european countries and supply them with food, and machinery. In addition to, this plan also help rebuild Western Europe.
  • The Berlin Air Lift

    The Berlin Air Lift
    This was when the Unites States and Britain helped Berlin by providing food to them. However, this caused the soviets to divide Berlin in half and they took control of the west. This was the beginning of the cold war.

    With the European countries fearing of the Soviets and that communism would spread, ten western European
    nations joined with the United States and Canada to form a defensive military alliance called NATO, or North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

    Brinkmanship Policy
    This policy was adopted by the United States, which was a policy to go to edge of war, forcing each side to retreat by the use of nuclear weapons and other Technological advances. This escalated the cold war because any attack was to be responded with an all out nuclear response, also called MAD, short for mutual assured destruction.

    After the Soviets saw the formation of NATO, the immediately viewed it as a threat and formed an alliance between Soviet Union, East Germany, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, and Albania.

    This was a war that was fought between South Korea and communist North Korea. This became a major conflict of the Cold War because the Soviet Union supported North Korea and the United States supported South Korea.

    Invented from the Soviets, this was an unmanned satellite in which was launched into space, above the Earth's atmosphere. This was very symbolical because it was the very first one to ever go to space.

    After the Soviets launched it's first Ballistic Missiles and satellite into space, the United States felt behind in education and began to find many ways to compete with the Soviets, which led to a competition to develop technology to explore space.

    This was an incident that shot down a American Spy plane out of sky after flying through Soviet territory. After they shot down the plane, they captured the pilot, and caused tensions between the 2 super powers.

    This was an plan to invade Cuba and overthrow Fidel Castro and his government. However, this plan failed from the start and many combatants were captured. 2 groups such as the CIA and the Brigade were part of this.

    John F. Kennedy was the president of the United States who was born on May 29, 1917. He lived a wealthy life after his father making fortunes at the stock market after WW1. He had 7 brother and sisters. After he became the president in 1961, he was active in the Cold War. He resolved the cuban missile crisis and saved the world from a nuclear war between the USSR.

    Fidel Castro was born in Cuba around 1926. As a kid, he grew up in wealthy circumstances and has often interested in sports more than studies. In the late 1945, he took law school and became interested in Politics. During the cold war, Fidel Castro planned to over throw the Cuban dictator Fulgenco Batista, and sucessfully became leader of Cuba. His communis military relationship with the Soviets led to the Cuban missile crisis which nearly led the world into nuclear warfare

    This was when the leader, Khrushchev, was secretly building 42 missile sites in Cuba. In October, an American spy plane discovered the sites. President John F. Kennedy declared that missiles was close to the United states and saw it as a threat. This almost the US and the USSR to be in a nuclear battle.

His mother always had a strong influence on him. When he became president of the united states, the world was still in the middle of the cold war. Nixon has always been an anticommunism and he formed a Detente policy in which was to create power among the world's strongest countries.
