HUAC
The Un-American Activities Commitee (HUAC) was originally created in 1937. The main point of the comittee was to investigate activities in america that were against what we stood for. -
Yalta Conference
Involved USSR, Great Britian, and America. The intentions of the confernce was to discuss the end of war plans, and plans for world peace. It was decieded they would divide Germany into 4 parts, one for each of the Allies. -
Potsdam Conferance
This was another conference between the Allies to make sure the agreements from the Yalta Conference were still in place. -
United Natioins Created
The United Nations was created to replace the Leauge of Nations. It was made to primarly prevent war and conflict, and if one country had a problem from another, than they would talk it out and go to war. -
Truman Doctorine/ Marshall Plan
These were plans created to stop communism. They provided help to countires in threat of communism. The Americans gave dangered states money, supplies, military aide, ect. -
The CIA
The CIA was created in 1947 after WWll ended. It was created to find spies or communist supports that lived in America.It was created to try to stop the spread of communist scare in America. -

The Red Scare was an a period of time when thousands of Americans believed we would fall to communisom. It was rumored that there were communist supporters in America, and a man named Joseph McCarthy was in charge of catching them. He would interogate people, and wrongfully accuse citizens of being communist. It fueled fear into Americans, and they didnt know who to trust. The Hollywood 10 were a group of ten people who were accused of being communist. Some were even executed. -

Berlin Airlift
This was the event when the Berlin Wall was put up by the Soviets to keep people from getting in/out of the city. It blocked off all supplies and neccesieties, so the people trapped inside couldn't get anything they needed. Eventually, the American Air Force began flying in supplies, and dropped them over the city with parachutes attatched for safe landings. This went on until the Soviets finally removed the wall. -
NATO
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) was formed as the division of Europe was happening due the fall of communism. It was made as an Alliance that promoted a free country lifestyle. -

North Korea invaded South Korea in hopes to conform them to communism. We aided the South, but shortley after we pulled our troops out the North took over the South and forced them to fall under communism. -
Vietnam War

The war started because French Vietnam wanted its independence. The Vietcong were people in the south that supported communism taking over from the north. French Vietnam didnt want to become communist. On the Vietnam New Year we sent in the Tet Offensive, which mostley wiped all of the Vietcong out of south Vietnam. When we believed French Vietnam had things in control, Nixon called for vietnamization, and shortly after we pulled our troops out, French Vietnam fell to communism. -
Warsaw Pact
The Pact was formed as a responce to the NATO alliances. The pact consisted of the Soviet Union and its 11 satelite comunist countries. -
Sputnik
Sputnik was the very first satelite to be sent into space. It was made by the Russians and was the first ever man-made object to leave the earths atmosphere. -
NASA
National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) was created for space discovery. It was created in response to the Soviets launching Sputnik into space. It was in charge of all of the satelites getting into space and the first man on the moon. -

The space was between America and the Soviets during the Cold War to try to see who could get the first man into space. The Soviets won on this day in history, -
Bay Of Pigs
The Bay Of Pigs was an area in Cuba where the CIA formed a group of Cuban refugees to try to over-throw Fidel Castro and the communist government. The mission ultamitley failed because the US refused to send in air force help. -
Berlin Wall
The Berlin Wall was built by the Soviets to keep the citizens in West Berlin in and not allow them to go to other parts of Berlin. -

Cuban Missle Crisis
The Cuban Missle Crisis was when Cuba was threatening to send their nuclear bombs and destroy America. It was the closest the world has ever come to nuclear war. Cuba was angry at us becuase of our actions at the Bay of Pigs and the nuclear missles that America had placed in Turkey. -
First Man on the Moon
Neil Armstrong, an American, was the very first man to step on the moon. He spent his time on the moon taking pictures and getting dirt samples.
