The Missouri Compromise was a compromise between anti-slavery and pro-slavery. They granted Missouri with there request and also drew a imaginary line in Lousiana to seperate anti-slavery and pro-slavery. -

They gave free land to settler if they improved the land they didn't have to pay for it. -

Sumner gave a speech insulting Brooks Cousin, Brooks cousin wasn't there to defend himself so Brooks beat Sumner with a cane. This is when everyone reliezed that things were getting bad and out of hand. -

Senate 1858- these debates introduces Lincoln to America.
He lost but he was popular .
This caused the House divided speech. -
John Brown Raid
John Brown fought against slavery supporters at " Bleeding Kansas"
He attempted to lead a slave uprising at Harper's Ferry, VA.
He also believed he was sent to end slavery, " Gods avenging angel "
He was eventually hanged.
