  • CORE

    CORE, or Congress of Racial Equalitiy, had pacifist members and wanted to ensure racial equality, especially when Hitler was targeting certain races.
  • Briggs v. Elliot Case

    The Briggs v. Elliot case was about ensuring an equal oppurtunity for all of the kids, but because of complications the case was changed and began questioning the role segregation was playing.
  • SCLC

    Created by many Civil Rights leaders, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
  • Lunch Counter Sit-in

    This day was one of the first restaurant sit ins. It was started by a group of black college students who refused to leave the sit-in after they had not been served. It was a generally peaceful until other parties made it not so. SNCC (snick) was the influence of the younger people of the movement.
  • Freedom Ballot

    The Freedom Ballot was created in Mississippi. It included ministers and other members who tried to convince the community that African Americans could control the political power.
  • Civil Rights Act of 1964

    Prohibited discrimination for almost any reason. It gave citizens rights to enter public places.
  • Voting Rights Act of 1965

    Eliminated literacy tests, and enrolled new voters.
  • The Black Panthers

    The Black Panthers came from the Freedom Fighters.
