From August 1960 through December 1962 the band, now renamed The Beatles, traveled to Hamburg, Germany multiple times to perform regularly at different clubs. During this period they got an edge, grew up, and got tougher. Their music also improved, whcih was the result of playing 7 hours a day.

Manager Brian Epstein introduce the Beatles to George Martin. After meeting with Epstein on May 9, Martin was impressed by his enthusiasm and agreed to sign the unknown Beatles to a recording contract without having met them or seen them play live.

The Beatles return to Liverpool and become a huge success. They release their album Please Please Me on March 22, 1963. "Please Please Me" becomes the bestselling single in Britain. This was the start of Beatle Mania -
The British invasion in the U.S. occurs in 1964. The Beatles appear on the Ed Sullivan show on February 9 as a novelty act.
Throughout 1964 the Beatles dominate the AMerican market.

The Beatles release A Hard Day's Night- a black and white comedy film starring the Beatles during the height of Beatle Mania. The "mockumentary" shows a couple days in the lives of the Beatles.

The Beatles relase another film, called Help! It is a comedy adventure which sees the group come up against an evil cult.

in 1964 the Beatles could do no wrong. They bgin to experiment with sound a little in 1965. They release "Yesterday" on September 13, 1965.

The Beatles then release their Rubber Soul album. This album was different because they'd begun experimenting with their sound. The timbre changed and their lyrics were more about love for mankind.

In an interview in August of 1966 John said that the Beatles had become more popular than Jesus Christ. People all over the United States were so angered by this that theyand did things like banning the Beatles andburning their albums and destroyed their music.

In August of 1966 the Beatles performed their last ticketed concert. They began to get tired of touring and their music was so manipulated and electronically altered that they werent able to perform live as easrier.
