AS-202 (Apollo Developement Flight)
This flight was a suborbital flight designed to test out the Saturn 1B launch vehicle. -

On this day, the crew of Apollo 1, were killed when a fire broke out in the cockpit while they were out on the launch pad. -

Apollo 7
This was the first manned Apollo flight. They went up and orbited the Earth. They splashed down on October 22, 1968 -

This was the first Lunar orbit and return to Earth. Returned to Earth on December 27, 1968. -
Apollo 9
This was the first crewed Lunar Module Test in outer space. Returned to Earth on March 13, 1969. -
Apollo 10
Lunar orbit and return to Earth. Returned to Earth on May 26, 1969. -
Apollo 11
This was the launch of the first Moon landing. Inside the capsule were three astronauts: Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins. -
"One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind"
On this day, Neil Armstrong became the first man to ever set foot on the Moon's surface. Buzz Aldrin soon followed Armstrong onto the Moon's surface. The Lunar Module had to be manually landed into the Sea of Tranquility by Armstrong when he saw that the auto pilot had the module heading for rocks. -
Return to Earth
On this day, Apollo 11 became the first Apollo mission to successfully land on the Moon and safely return back home to Earth. -
Apollo 12
This was the second mission to land on the Moon and safely return back home to Earth. -
Apollo 13
This was supposed to be the third lunar landing of the Apollo program. -
"Houston, we have a problem."
While on its way to the Moon, Apollo 13 experienced a malfunction. One of the oxygen tanks exploded damaging their space craft. This was really the first problem that NASA ran into while their astronauts were in outer space. NASA had to quickly devise a plan to get the astronauts back home. The astronauts had lost most of the heating power, their oxygen was running low, and they were low on power but they still managed to make it safely back home with all of the hard work of NASA. -

The Passing of a Legend
On this day, the first man to ever walk on the Moon, Neil Armstrong, passed away at the age of 82. The world is greatly saddened by the passing of this titan.
