    This was the launch of the first Moon landing. Inside the capsule were three astronauts: Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins.

    On this day, Neil Armstrong became the first man to ever set foot on the Moon's surface. Buzz Aldrin soon followed Armstrong onto the Moon's surface. The Lunar Module had to be manually landed into the Sea of Tranquility by Armstrong when he saw that the auto pilot had the module heading for rocks.

    On this day, Apollo 11 became the first Apollo mission to successfully land on the Moon and safely return back home to Earth.

    This was the second mission to land on the Moon and safely return back home to Earth.

    This was supposed to be the third lunar landing of the Apollo program.

    While on its way to the Moon, Apollo 13 experienced a malfunction. One of the oxygen tanks exploded damaging their space craft. This was really the first problem that NASA ran into while their astronauts were in outer space. NASA had to quickly devise a plan to get the astronauts back home. The astronauts had lost most of the heating power, their oxygen was running low, and they were low on power but they still managed to make it safely back home with all of the hard work of NASA.

    On this day, the first man to ever walk on the Moon, Neil Armstrong, passed away at the age of 82. The world is greatly saddened by the passing of this titan.
