    The phrase come and take it was the slogan for the Texans during te Battle of Gonzalez. The Mexicans asked the Texans to lower their cannon and the Texans replied " Come and Take It"

    At first before the Battle of San Antonio they did not know who was going to go to San Antonio with Ben Miliam until 300-500 men volunteered.

    During the battle of the Alamo many people died on the Texans side, but even though it was a win for the Mexicans it spiked the TExans and stirred them to win the war.

    Families living in Gonzalez were alarmed when they heard of Sam Houston's retreat so some ran to louisiana others stopped in eastern settlements like nacogdouches. This flight was know as Runaway scrape.

    At the constitutional convention the Texasns delegates declared Texas independent from Mexico and within 2 weeks they had created a written constitution.
  • Battle of Coleto

    Battle of Coleto
    On March 14, Fanin recieved orders to retreat to victoria. He hoped to delay the battle until the troops were better organized. Fanin's men rested a little east out from Goliad and were attacked and killed by the Mexicans.
  • Goliad Massacre

    Goliad Massacre
    The Texans resting outside of Goliad were ambushed by Mexicans and were never able to keep them away. Fanin surrendered to the Mexicans not knowing that his surrender was unconditional or that the Mexicans would later kill them.
  • Battle of San Jacinto

    Battle of San Jacinto
    Sam Houston led the Texans into the Battle of San Jacinto. The Texans shouted "Remember the Alamo" and "Remember Goliad" as they surged into battle. The battle lasted a short time and the Texans captured many Mexcan soldiers including the president of Mexico and root of the problems Santa Anna.
