Francisco Vasquez de Corondo searched for the Seven Cities of Cibola but led an expedition across northern Texas and southwestern United States.

Sieur de La Salle created Fort St. Louis at the Matagorda Bay; which let France claim Texas. Two years after this La Salle was killed by hsi own men.

Stephen F. Austin was given a grant from the Mexican goverment and began to colonize at the Brazos River.

Mexico established a Constitution that gave it a goverment. It failed to clearly state the rights of the states within the republic; such as Texas.

Stephen F. Austin presented Mexico City a list of demands, but President Santa Ana refused to let Texas go from the republic so they imprisoned Austin.

Texans pushed back a group of Mexican calvary at the Battle of Gonzales. The revolution had started.

The Battle of the Alamo was fought in San Antonio. It was a tow week siege against the Mexicans. Sadly all of the Texans lives were lost. The Runaway Scrape begins after this battle.

Colonists gathered some personal possesions before they abandoned their homes because Santa Ana was coming with his army to some settlements. The Runaway Scrape ened with the Battle of San Jacinto on April 21.

James W. Fannin was the commander for the troops at Goliad. All 180 men were killed. He tried to regroup some new enforcements of 350, but was sadly killed or taken prisoner.

The Texan army had 750 men. They were up against 1500 Mexicans. Throughout the battle, the Texans cried out, "Remember the Alamo!" or, "Remember Goliad!" Within a short period of time, Texas killed 700 Mexicans and took 730 as prisoners.

President James Polk signed a legislation making Texas th 28th state of the United States

At the Secession Convention, a vote was made 171 to 6 and so Texas seceded from the United States.

In 1862 a Union Commodore, William B. Renshaw, sailed to Galveston to make them give up the city, and with no forces the island had to comply to his will. On January 1 1836, the Confederacy has a battle there and 26 were killed and 117 wounded, but they recaptured Galveston Island.
