Elementary classroom technology implementation

Technology in the Classroom

  • Audio Cassette Player

    Audio Cassette Player
The first technology I used in the classroom was the audio cassette player. The students were listening to music, following along a passage or work on their listening skill in a variety of ways .
  • Desktop Computer

    Desktop Computer
We had two in the classroom. Students used them when we worked at different stations, research for a project, listen to music and sing alog, etc.
  • Ipad

    Ipad
When I worked as a substitute, students used Ipads to work on programs like Gigi Math or Kiz Phonics. Some schools only had a limited number of Ipads per class. Students were using them when working on different stations so that everyone could have a chance.
  • Chrome Books

    Chrome Books
At our school, each student has access to chrome books. All students are taught how to use google docs. Most of the teachers are using google classroom and students are expected to complete their assigned work using it. The students use the Chromebooks when working on their independent study packets. Some assignments they complete using Chromebooks are writing an essay, creating a powerpoint, watching videos, and so on.
  • Achieve 3000 Reading Program

    Achieve 3000 Reading Program
At Options for Youth Public Charter School, we use Achieve 3000 as an ELD class. All students receive their account prior to their first day of class. The program is meant to improve all four language skills. To measure their progress students take a placement test the first time when they use the program, one in the middle of the school year, and one at the end of the school year.
  • Newsela

    Newsela
Another program I used when I worked as a substitute and also as a Teacher is Newsela.
  • Quizlet

    Quizlet
Students love to use Quizlet. I love it because I can create vocabulary activities as well as practice tests.
  • Kahoot

    Kahoot
Learning while playing games is something that everyone loves. I use Kahoot when I want students to review for a test or practice vocabulary. We usually use Chromebooks to play the game, but if a student wants to use his/her cell phone they can.
