Ten Technological Triumphs

  • PS one

    PS one
My family got a PS one for Christmas the year it came out.
We didn't have a very wide game selection. At first we also didn't have a memory card so we would play for hours knowing our progress couldn't be saved.
  • 1st cell phone

    1st cell phone
    I got my 1st cell phone, a Nokia 3200, in 6th grade.
It had the ability to text, call, and take low quality pictures.
I remember only being able to play one game called Bounce.
  • 1st iPod

    1st iPod
For my 12th birthday I received my 1st iPod. Before this I mostly used CDs for listening to music. It held 30GB of music, video, and pictures. It was much larger than the iPods and MP3 players made today.
  • Interactive Games

    Interactive Games
My family got Guitar Hero and Dance Dance Revolution for Christmas in 2005. These were the first electronic games I had ever played that could be so interactive while at home. They were compatible with our PlayStation 2.
  • DVR

    DVR
My family got DVR around 2007. Before this TV shows had to be recorded by tape, missed, or you'd have to make your plans around a good movie coming on. This also offered people the decision to fast-forward through commercials or unwanted material.
  • Sony eBook

    Sony eBook
My dad gave me an eBook for Christmas in 2009. It was able to hold multiple books in one device. It was also small and easy to carry around wherever I went instead of lugging around big books.
  • 1st iPhone

    1st iPhone
I got the iPhone 4 in High School.
It had the ability to browse the internet, text, call, take high quality pictures, and was able to download an incredible amount of apps. This made a computer almost unnecessary.
  • 1st Laptop

    1st Laptop
I got my 1st laptop computer when I was leaving for college.
It was a 17" HP Pavilion G6 in pink. After only a year it stopped working for unknown reasons and I had to get another.
  • Got my own Netflix account

    Got my own Netflix account
I got my own Netflix account in college and haven't been able to live without it since! I'm able to watch shows on my laptop, iPhone, or the Wii. It has definitely increased the amount of time I spend on the computer.
  • 1st Smart TV

    1st Smart TV
My family got a Smart TV. Everything you view is in HD and has 3D capabilities when wearing glasses. It also has apps so you can connect to the internet, Netflix, Hulu, or anything else without a separate device.
