  • Gameboy Advanced SP

    Gameboy Advanced SP
On February 14, 2003, the game boy advance SP was released. My birthday is February 3 so that year I received a late birthday present and I got a game boy. I was thrilled, I had only a few games Kirby was my favorite alongside Pokemon, and Donkey Kong. The coolest feature was the Spongbob episodes I had on a cartridge. I believe I had 4 episodes to watch two per cart.
  • Gamecube

    Gamecube
Christmas '03, I received my first ever game console other than a handheld device. Of course, my favorite game was indeed MarioKart/Super Mario Party and Super Monkey Ball. I raced every family member and friend possible in Mario Kart, I think my dad had more fun playing than I did. We would race tournaments, laughing having the opportunity for us to bond. The amount of joy a game console can bring to a family is incredible!
  • The first home Computer

The first home computer I can remember was in Jan. '04. I don't remember using it much but I do remember Pinball! My friends in 2nd grade we jealous I had a computer in my room, but it is not like I knew how to use it at the time. It was so fascinating, and I couldn't wait to learn more about how it works, I would always ask my dad how things had power, or how it works. It was PC and I use to sit in my father's lap as he would type in awe watching his fingers skip across the keys.
  • Microsoft Word and Power point

I believe we started diving into word and PowerPoint in the 5th grade, we started with simple typing exercises, onto typing paragraphs. Then to creating fake advertisements on PowerPoint, which was a fun assignment. We dissected each covering only the basics and letting our minds explore with endless possibilities. This was my first real interaction with computers, learning shortcuts to rotate the monitor 180 or 90 degrees leaving the computer lab computers upside down.
  • Xbox 360

    Xbox 360
On my birthday in 2009 I received one big box, and inside this large box were three games, Halo 3, Call of duty World at War and, Madden '09. along with two controllers and 36 AA batteries. I was SO excited to join my friends in the action-packed Xbox gameplay.
  • Wii

    Wii
After having and playing my Gamecube to death it finally quit working, I tried getting new power cables along with AV cables but still nothing. Then I found out the Wii can play the mass amount of Gamecube games I had. This sparked a newfound joy for the games I grew up playing, Mario Kart was back in action! I was able to actually beat a few of the games I played years ago. The most underrated GameCube game was called Second Sight and you possessed powers and had to evade the Evil cooperation.
  • Flip Phone

2013 I was in middle school and started walking to and fro school. My sister thought it was in my best interest to have a cell phone. By this time most of my friends had phones by now and I late joining the party. It was such a good feeling to receive something so simple yet powerful. The texting started right away and I will never forget having to push the buttons three times to get the letter C.
  • Jeep Wrangler

    Jeep Wrangler
My first car was a Jeep wrangler, bikini top with 33-inch Micky Thompsons. It was a pearly white color and had black accents on the hood. This Jeep only had 140,000 miles on it and for a 95' YJ that's impressive. With the addition of new stereo & boat speakers in the rollcage, it was a dream come true! Simple yet reliable. This is something I included because I learned to operate a stick shift. Which is a large manual computer basically. The clutch was old and stiff but a great place to start.
  • iPod touch

    iPod touch
The iPod touch was my first smart device for music/games. I wanted an iPhone but that wasn't happening until I had an upgrade available. This was the next best thing. I was thrilled to finally be able to dive into music, discovering what I like. This I feel was a huge part in shaping my personality. Music holds a powerful expression and it leads me to new avenues. I love finding music that relates to me in some way shape or form. The camera quality was amazing as well, as I love photography.
  • Iphone

    Iphone
I never ended up getting that iPhone until 2020. my sister had a busted iPhone 7 plus. Little did she know the screens are fixable for around 90$ bucks. So I asked her for the broken phone and got a new to me iPhone for 120 bucks$ This was so exciting, I had wanted one for as long as I can remember. Having the iPod touch years ago really helped me so I wasn't totally unfamiliar with the operating systems.
  • Macbook Air

    Macbook Air
Christmas 2020 was my first Christmas home in 6 years! Once my family knew I set my sights on a business degree, they all pitched in and purchased me a new laptop. This was my shoe in the door and I couldn't bail out now. I cried as I hugged what's left of my family, I was not expecting this amazing piece of hardware. It's an incredibly fast device that allows me to not only attend school but watch Hulu whenever. You could say it was phenomenal and brings me much joy being able to attend MCC.
  • Today

After compiling my tech timeline I can say that tech brings us a lot of powerful tools and fun! Technology has shaped my youth and saved me from the horrors of reality. The immersive gameplay lets everyday life and struggles vanish. Even if it's only for 20 mins, it allows our brains to focus on something else than the trauma surrounding us. The example I have is when my father passed away, the neighbors let me play an ATV racing game on the PlayStation while the paramedics tended to my father.
