    During the 1800's as the Industrial Revolution began, students made the transition from working on farms to entering the classroom. Here the first system of standarized testing was introduced and used.

    During World War One, standardized testing became a regular practice, not only is schools but also with service men to figure out what jobs they were qualified during the war.
  • SAT

    SAT
    Scholstic Aptitude Test was created to determine which students were colleged bond. This test was developed by the College Board, non profit group of educational orginaztions. The SAT's are one of the most well known standardized testing out there and are still used to this day.

    In 1936 the first electric test scanners were developed using a computer call IBM 805.

    ACT
    In 1959 the American College Testing examination was created by a professor from the University of Iowa named Everett Lindquist.
  • Federal Laws

    In 1965 the US government made it a law that all schools need to use standardized testing. As a result the Title 1 was created, which required schools to turn in the scores from the testing to recieve funding from the government.

    A test that was developed to be given to a group of students scoring them on different knowlegde skills.

    In 1988 the US. Congress created the NAGB, that developed new standards based off of the sample test given to students in the 1970's.

    Under the Bush Administration in 2002 created and passed the No Child Left Behind Act. This bill required all public schools to test students in particular grades and use the results of those test to help rate the school nationally.

    Race to the Top was created under the Obama administration, where they believed in using Standardized Testing and those score to help motivate teacher through incentives.
  • Standarized Testing

    Today Standardized Testing has become an issue with political leaders, school boards, teachers and parent. Many feel that the testing is crucial for the education of the students (political officials) and others feel that testing has taken over the academic aspects of educationa and schools solely are focusing on that and testing should be reduced or removed all together.
