  • The Declaration of Indepedence

    The declaration was signed by all the officials of the 13 colonies, and it was basically their declaration of freedom. This was what ultimately started the war because it caused King George to send more troops here.
  • Nancy Hart kills 5 or 6 British soldiers

    The exact date is not known, but it is stated that Nancy Hart killed 5 or 6 British soldiers. They had come to her house for food, but she got them drunk by giving them an excess amount of alcohol. She told her daughter to call the townspeople and they killed the soldiers.
  • Campbell invaded Georgia and took it over

    Campell attacked Georgia and soon overwhelmed their forces. His attack caused Georgia to go under Britain's control for the rest of the war.
  • Battle of Kettle Creek

    With Elijah Clarke's leadership, the patriots were able to push back the loyalists over the river. The was the first and only battle when Georgia patriots beat the British.
  • Austin Dabney saves Elijah Clarke

    During the Battle of Kettle Creek, Elijah Clarke got injured and needed a horse. Austin Dabney offered his horse to him, therefore saving his life.
  • The Siege of Savannah began

    Americans and French attempted to free Georgia from its year long control by the British. They felt like Georgia was part of them, so they were mad that Britain had taken it over.
  • The Siege of Savannah ended

    After over a month of fighting for Georgia, the patriots finally lost. This was the second deadliest battle of the revolution, and due to this failure, Georgia stayed under British control the entire war.
  • Charleston fell under British control

    After the Siege of Savannah, General Sir Henry Clinton brought his army down and began the siege of Charleston. He succeeded because Benjamin Lincoln surrendered the city to them.
  • Augusta falls to Britain

    Lieutenant Colonel Henry Lee, along with Pickens and Clarke, began to attack Augusta. They ultimately won because Colonel Thomas Brown surrendered the city to them.
  • Georgia was given back to America

    When the war ended, so did Britain's control over Georgia. After about 4 years of control they finally got their freedom.
