This law was an landmark legislation, because it provided the resources to help ensure that all disadvantaged students gain a quality education.

    Rehabilitation Act
    Section 504: Rehabilitation Act of 1973, This Act protected individual with disabilities from any discrimination in programs that receive funding from the federal government. However, this section 504 stated that public school should provide the necessary accommodation to ensure that all students with a disabilities benefit from free appropriate public education school. The school are also responsible for creating and ensuring that all children with disabilities have the required access.

This law was intended for all children with disabilities would have a right to education. It also establish a process by which the state and local educational agencies may be held accountable for providing educational services for all handicapped children.

    2. Extend special education service to included social workers, assistive technology, and rehabilitation services.
    3. Required states to provides bilingual education program for students with disabilities transition to employment and provide transition services. This law required that development of individualized transition programs for students with disabilities, by time they reaches age of 16.

Where as it also requires a general education teacher to be a member of the IEP teams by which, a proactive behavior management plan to be included in the students IEP if a student disabilities has behaviors problems.

Even those with physical or others types of disabilities, limited in English proficiency (LEP).

    The renamed and amended special education law several times since 1975. On December 3, 2004. The new statute is the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004, IDEA 2004, focus on accountability for teacher, improved outcomes, reading, early intervention. 1. is to provide an education that meets a child’s unique needs, prepares the child for further education, employment, independent living. 2. is to protect the rights of both children with disabilities and their parents.
