    This is a satilite that the Soviet Unionput in orbit. It is the size of a beach ball. This is important because the United States thought if they could send a satilite in orbit then they cuold send nuclear weapons in orbit and that is how the cold war or also known as the Space Race.

    This s[acecraft went to a hight of 70,700 miles. This is important because we were learing hwo to get farther. That also means that we could get better pictures of the othe planets.

    Spudnik 2 was the second satilite that the Soviet Unuin sent in to orbit. This flight was important because it had in the nose of the ship was Laika the dog. That showed that living things can go to space. But at the end of it all Laika died because the capsil over heated.

    This was the first Amarican satellite that the U.S sent in to orbit. This satellite gave us hope in winning the sace race.

    Explorer 2 failed to make it in to ordit. This was important because NASA could see what they did wrong and fix it.

    Sputnik 3 was the 3rd satellite. This was important because this satellite detected cosmic rays so that scientist could lesrn more abour them.

    was the first satellite to reach the moon. this was imporant because this was the first time we have seen the surface of the moon. This satellite aslo obited the sun in between Mars and Earth.This is important because the satellite had cameras on it so the Soviet Unuin could see the objects around Luna 1.

    This was the first man made spacecraft to land on the moon. This was important because this is showing that the Solveit Uniun is learning and developing spacecrafts faster then us and they got to see the surface of the moon better.

    Luna 3 is one of a few that have at that time gone to the moon. This is important because this satellite orbited the moon and took pictures of 70% of the moon. that could help with reserch to.

    This was the first wether satellite to be lunched into orbit. This important because it could help us better in knowing what is going to happen with the wether.
