    Louisiana Purchase
    The Louisiana purchase was a great deal for America. America bought land west of the Mississippi River from France on April 30, 1803. America got 828,000 square miles of land receiving doubling the size of America. The land was less than 5 cents an acre. America paid France $15 million dollars for land with very valuable resources. The Louisiana purchase was a great deal for America but not for France.
  • Corps of Discovery Expedition

    Corps of Discovery Expedition
    The corps of discovery water passage way. Lewis and Clark figured out on there journey there is no straight water passage way to the Pacific Ocean. Sacaguwea found her brother she had not seen for years on this journey. Sacaguwea also was carrying a baby on her back the whole trip. When Lewis and Clark were returning sacaquwea stayed back where they were and Lewis and Clark returned home on March 23, 1806
  • War of 1812

    War of 1812
    America did not like how the British tried to take away U.S. Trade leading to the war of 1812. James Madison on June 1st asked congress to go to way against Britain. Congress said yes even though they knew it was a bad idea to go to war against there old country. In the war Britain burned down the national capital building in Washington D.C.
  • Florida Territory

    The Florida territory was stole then bought by America. Andrew Jackson took troups down to the Florida Territory. America invaded the Florida Territory in 1817. Spain then sold Florida to the U.S. After America invaded it in 1819. America got what they wanted from Spain, and that is the state of Florida.
  • The Monroe Doctrine

    The Monroe Doctrine
    The Western Hemisphere is off limits to forieners. Meaning no one from another country was aloud in the Western Hemisphere. James Monroe was the president who created the Monroe Doctrine. The Monroe Doctirine was invoked 1865 U.S. Government exerted diplomatic and military pressure of the Mexican president. Trying to steal America was not an option for forieners.
  • Indian Removal Act & Trail of Tears

    Indian Removal Act & Trail of Tears
    Thousands of sad native Americans died on the trail of tears. There were 5 tribes involved the Chickasaw, Choctow, Creek, Seminole, and Cherokee. The Indian removal act happened so that whites could settle where the natives homes used to be. Native Americans were moved from their homes and settled in Oklahoma. They were moved out so the white people could move in.
  • Texas

    Texas
    Texans are proud of their state. Texas gained their independence from Mexico. Texas was its own country called Texas republic. Texas asked America to be apart of the United states. Texas was more than just some part of Mexico.
  • Oregan Territory

    Oregan Territory
    Many yelled "54 40 or fight!". The Oregon territory stretched from the Pacific Ocean to the Rocky Mountains. 54 40 parallel was what America wanted but they compromised on the 49 parallel. James K Polk compromised with Britain for the 49 parallel. Nor Britain or America would budge but after 10 years they decided the 49 parallel was equal.
  • Mexican American War and the Treaty of Guadalupe

    Mexican American War and the Treaty of Guadalupe
    The Mexican American war was a war over land. Santa Ana was the Mexican president at the time. America paid Mexico $15 million dollars for the land. The treaty added 525,000 square miles to the U.S. Territory. The treaty gave America what is now Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.
