    Icon with the Archangel Gabriel

    Icon with the Archangel Gabriel
    Artist: Gabriel
This is a painting of Archangel Gabriel. It is a painting from the Byzantine era. Most of the paintings from that era are religious and based on holy people such as this.
I was attracted to this painting because I rarely see pictures of holy people with a very simple background to make the person's face stand out clearly. I also like how simple it is.

    The School of Athens

    The School of Athens
    Artist: Raphael
This is a painting of some famous people in the Athen world such as Aristotle, Plato, Socrates and many others. Its is from the Renaissance era because all the people in the painting are the same size unlike previous eras where important people were depicted bigger.
I like the photo because it has a lot of different stories in it. The background is drawn from a far point of view to show everything that is going on.
  • The Raise of the Cross

    The Raise of the Cross
    Artist: Peter Paul Rubens
This is a painting of the cross as its being raised. It is a Baroque painting because they are mostly based on violoence and/or nudity. As we see, the people raising the cross are all half naked.
What attracted me to the picture is that it tells a story. It shows the people's respect to their religion and Jesus for raising him. It also shows the teamwork where they help each other to raise him.
  • Liberty Leading the People

    Liberty Leading the People
    Artist: Ferdinand Victor Eugene Delacroix
This is a painting of the celebration of the fall of Charles X and the rise to power of Louis-Philipe. This is a Romanticism painting because it shows the pain and terror in some of the people.
I like how the colors and people are detailed specially the victors. You can see how the fallen men are darker than the others to indicate their loss.
  • The Gleaners

    The Gleaners
    Artist: Jean-François Millet
This is a Realism painting of women working in the farm. Realism paintings are all about everyday life. It has no drama nor supernatural elements added to it, and the sizes of the background and people are all normal.
I was attracted to the painting because it looks very simple and its easier to relate it to your life. The painting also uses natural colors.
  • Paris Street; Rainy Day

    Paris Street; Rainy Day
    Artist: Gustave Caillebotte
This is an oil painting of a normal rainy day in the streets of Paris. Impressionist painters are very detailed and usually draw people in movement such as the people in this painting.
I liked this painting a lot because I enjoy rainy days and it looks very smooth and clear in my eyes. I enjoy seeing happy paintings such as this where there is no drama or violence captured.
  • Flowers, Italy

    Flowers, Italy
    Artist: Joseph Stella
This is a painting of flowers abstract using oil. Surrealism is completely different from Realism art because it uses lots of imagination and creativity. It usually doesn't come simple at all.
I got attracted by the colors in this painting. I was amazed by how creative it is and how it grabs people's eyes and attention.
  • Second Day Nothing

    Second Day Nothing
    Artist: Jonas Burgert
This is a an oil painting using the contemporary style of art. It is a very colorful painting with a negative theme to it. It is an imaginary painting talking about reality.
I got attracted to the painting because I think that the artist is trying to reach us a message through this piece of art. And the use of rich colors make the painting more interesting and easier to look at.
