Since the Japanese did not give in to giving any land up, the Russians moved into the warm water harbor of Port Arthur. The port was in control of Japanese, but the Russians took it over anyways. This caused a clash between the two countries and started the year long war.

Father Georgi Gapon led a nonviolent march with the help of workers to the czar's palace. The marchers led on past the soldiers, but only to get shot by them. In the end, over 100 marchers were killed and hundreds were in critical condition.

Russia joined allies with Britain and France, but were not prepared. 1/3 of the Russian army did not have any weapons and there were shortages in food; which also affected the Russian's people. This started the March Revolution.

Protestors striked against the Czar Nicholas II to have more food and peace. The strike took place in Petrograd and the soldiers refused to shoot at the protestors. Instead, they joined them and striked against the czar. This caused Nicholas II to abdicate his thrown.
