    The Great Persecution was the persecution of Christians for their religious beliefs. It started because, Emperor Nero is said to have started the Great Fire of Rome and he needed someone else to take the blame for it. He pointed the blame at Christians because, not many of their locations were destroyed and they were an easy target to shift the blame to. Everyone in Rome feeling angry towards the Christians allowed Nero Christians to be tortured, fed to live animals, and burned at the stake.

    Perpetua was killed for her faith which, makes her a martyr for Christianity. She was openly practicing Christianity without fear, even though she could and would be persecuted for it. Even at the time for her to be killed was near she refused to turn her back on God. She was killed with her faith strong and her head held high and not shameful.

    Constantine the Great

    Constantine was impartial to Christians he neither despised nor loved them. This all changed when he dreamed of seeing a symbol in the sky (a cross) which the dream told him to place on his shield to protect his army. He did this and won the Battle of Milvian Bridge. He was very pleased with his victory and made Christianity a lawful religion. He later built a city named, Constanople, which he denoted to Christianity. It contained churches and was enveloped by the Christians belief system.

    Constantine l and Licinius created The Edict of Milan to treat Christians equally and make their religion legal. This treaty made sure that everyone could practice their religion safely and in open. This treaty lead to the rapid growth of Christianity because, no one was fearing being prosecuted for it.

    He was the Emperor in 380 after the Battle of Milvian Bridge. Emperor Theodosius made Christianity the official religion of the Imperial Rome.
