Due to the emperor fondness of luxury, the new capital drained a lot of the country's resources. A lot of laborers were put to work to create a forest by digging up trees from nearby hills to and moving them back to be replanted in the city. The building of this city was one of the main factors that caused many to dislike Yangdi

This later on caused economic distressed, chronic military weakness, and rebellion by nomadic origins. After Yang Gui Fei was executed, he lived in grief.

    Southern Song Dynasty After the Jin overthrew the Liao Dynasty, the Song fled south. They were able to established a rump state called Southern Song Dynasty. The dynasty was considered to be a "weak" dynasty because its attempts to make peace with invaders. The Southern Song and the Jin was seperated by the Yellow River and the Dasanguan Pass. After establishment of the Yuan Dynasty by the Mongols, the Southern Song Dynasty fell after a massive attack.

    Sui Dynasty The Sui Dynasty was a short lived dynasty that only ruled from 581- 618. After seizing the throne from his son in law, who was the ruler of Zhou Empire, Yang Jian proclaimed himself emperor and established the Sui Dynasty. It was able to reunified north and the south of China. Through this communication between the two areas were enhanced. The decline of the dynasty began when Yangdi came into power. His flashy lifestyle and inhability to win war against Korea.

    YangdiYangdi came to power after murdering his own father, Yang Jian. Eventhough he was able to drove back nomadic invaders in the north and building the great canal from the north to south, his excessive lifestyle had caused him to die. His expedition against Korea (612-614) failed horribly and caused many to be displeased with him. Revolt soon broke out and the regional governors gained more power. This led China into times of madness and he was soon assassinated by his own minister in 618.

Their boarders extended into present day Afghanistan, west of Tibet, and the Red River Valley. During the time of the Tang Dynasty, works within imperial bureaucracy was very important. The rulers revived Confucian ideology and used civil examination. Through civil examination qualified officials would be found to govern the vast empire.

She sponsored many paintings and large constructions projects like the Buddhist shrines, monasteries, statues, and etc.

    Chang'an Li Yuan renamed Daxing to Chang’an and made it the new capital for the Tang Dynasty. Since Chang’an is the capital city, the imperial household was established there and large staff were used in order to run it. Princes and other dignitaries were also living in Chang’an. The city was big and had two large market places. During this time the capital city was compared to Constantinople.

The failure to defeat the Liao dynasty became the threat that caused the decline of the Song. The Liao dynasty forced them to sign many unfair treaties that would caused them to pay heavy tribute.

Because of her beauty, she was able to become Xuanzong favorite. Her greed for power had caused many to be displeased by her, which later on contributed to her death.

Through the tribute they collected from the Song, the Liao advanced politically and econimically. The Liao declined after the attack by the Jin Dynasty in 1125 when the Song broke off the treaties.

Large junks are using 150 meters and 492 feet long.

Even though as a loyal supporter to the Sui Dynasty, Yangdi had brought China into a state of insanity and after being convinced by his son, he led a rebellion. After the assassination of Yangdi, Li Yuan fought against others in order to unite China under one rule. During his time he lower down taxes and laid the foundation for the Golden Age of Tang.
