    Audion Tube
The Audion Tube was used to amplify sound waves. Before the Audion Tube was made, sound waves couldn't be sent that far and still be heard clearly. The Audion Tube made it possible to go far and still be able to hear the radio loud enough to where it won't hurt.
  • Uncle Charlie

    Uncle Charlie
Uncle Charlie is a term used for personal radio stations. Once radio stations were a big thing, everyone wanted one. People would set up their own stations in their basements and broadcast. The only problem with this is that there were too many stations so close to each other and it would mess up many stations. You could never pick up the staton you wanted because of how close together the were.
  • Advertising

    Advertising
Without advertising radio stations wouldn't be the same today. Advertising is what pays for the radio station itself. In 1925 WEAT did a 10 minute commercial and earned $50.

  • Family Medium

    Family Medium
In radio history, the best thing it has offered was unity....mainly in families. When there was no tv or many electronics, families would come together to and sit around a radio. There wasn't a lot of bad on the radio like there is on tv. There was always something on that the whole family could enjoy.
