    Transmitting licensing began by the Federal Radio Commission. Then it was called the FRC. Now we call it the FCC where it still controls radio.

    When television came along it took away the radio shows as they began to be played on the screen. Radio knew that if they didn't do something soon that they'd be out of business. As a result, they started playing music on the radio so that people wouldn't have to go buy tickets, or records, but could simply listen to the radio for musical entertainment.
