    Macroni's wireless link was used to call the lifeboat after ship accident. Soon after the ship R.F. Matthew was in a wreck. That ship was the 1st to request emergency help using the new radio technology.

    In 1901 Guglielmo Marconi presented and advertised the first efficient transatlantic radio signal. Marconi radios ended confinement of traveling in the ocean. The radio saved many lives in the Titanic. He later shared a Nobel Prize with Karl F. Bryan in Physics.

    The electronic amplifying vacuum tube was invented by Lee de Forest. Consist of glass tube with 3 electrodes inside. Also a heated filament, a plate and grid. Although Reginald Fessenden had the idea, he never made it in the books.

    Westinghouse (8vk)is one of the 1st radio stations. It was later renamed as KDKA. On November 2, 1920, KDKA is the first commercial licensed radio station in USA. Frank Concard worked for Westinghouse for half a century.

    Uncle Charlie was another name for personal radio stations. Anybody who owned the equipment for a radio station had a one. But since everyone wanted to make a station it became a problem.

    All the big stars,actors,and advertisers that made the 1930s and 1940s the golden era of the radio change to TV programs instead. Radio must play records since the actors left. They tried making the shows on the radio but it didn't work. ( Peoples voices sounded different from their original character.This makes the radio stations struggle for views since everyone wanted a TV.
