    Lee De Forest created the audition tube a vaccum tube that amplified signals.

    8XK later renamed KDKA was the first radio station ever made by Frank Conrad. Its still on today in Pittsburg

  • Advertising

    WEAF aired a 10 minute commerical in 1922 for an apartment complex and made $50.

  • FRC

    They organized the licensing of transmitters. The assigned radio station frequences, call letters, and power limits.

  • Golden Era

    This was in the middle of the great depression and people needed money.

  • Family Medium

    The entire family could listen to the radio all together. They would listen to bands and stories.

  • Tv started taking over radio

    Advertisers started going to TV. Radio lost music and started to jump ship.
