Radio and Music Events

  • Marconi

    Marconi was an Italian Inventor. He sent and recieved the first radio signal in 1985. He made history by using radio signals.
  • Audion Tube

    Lee De Forest created "borrowed" the audion tube. It is a vacuum that amplifies signals. It aplified the signals to create better sound.
  • Reginald Fessenden

    Reginald Fessenden was widley believed to actually come up with the idea of an audion tube. He did not make it into the history books because his idea was "borrowed" by Lee De Forest.
  • Radio Stations

    These were a a few of the popular stations during that time. 8XK which was later changed to KDKA. Frank Conrad was also a very popular man on the radio.
  • Dawn of Advertising

    WEAF aired a 10 minute commercial. It was for an apartment complex that charged $50. This was the first time they aired a commercial on the radio.
  • FRC

    The FRC was created to organize the licensing of transmitters. As well as assinging radio station frequencies to call letters. And for power limits on the frequencies.
  • Call letters

    W is East of the Mississippi river. K is West of the Mississippi. Call letters were used in assigning radio station frequencies.
  • AM and FM waves

    AM waves amplified modulation from 535 KHz- 1605 KHz. FM waves were used for frequency modulation from 88-108 MHz.
  • Golden Era

    During the deppression people were searching for money. So that they could listen to the radio. But the radio was soon starting to fade out of existence.
  • T.V.

    While radio was fading television was coming in to the media buisness. The T.V. was for the whole family to watch together. They could all sit down and enjoy an evening watching there new television.
  • Television Shows

    Some famous T.V. shows families watched together were. Amos n Andy, Gunsmoke, The Shadow, and Our Miss Brooks. Other shows were shows like Superman, Little orphan Annie, and $64 Dollar question.
  • Radios Demise

    T.V. made an appearence in the late 30's. Because of this Radio was quickly fading away. Radio also lost alot of money because of television becoming such a popular thing.
  • Music

    Because of radio dying there only way to here music was the television and other machines. The jukebox was a very popular machine that people could play music on. The record player was also a very poular thing people could have in ther e home's and play music.
  • Radio Progression

    Major Edwin Armstrong invented the FM transmitter. The FM transmitter made for a strong signal and higher sound quality. Now radio had talk shows on AM and Music on FM.
  • Radio vs. Now

    Radio is a great way to enjoy music while in the car, at home, or in a restaurant. Now there are apps that can play music for you such as Spotify, Pandora, and YouTube. Both forms can play music and be enjoyed the same.
