Queen Elizabeth I

  • Sep 7, 1533

    Birth

Elizabeth was born in Greenwhich Palace. Her father was hoping for a son, though. I believe that if she were born a male, she would have been treated differently and had a different future.
  • Period: Sep 7, 1533 to

    Queen Elizabeth I

  • May 16, 1536

    Elizabeth's mother dies.

Elizabeth was hoped to be a male. Her father was disappointed with her mother when she had a stillborn son and he made statements against her, then had her beheaded. Elizabeth was barely three. I'm sure this was very traumatic.

    Refused a proposal.

Thomas Seymour asked Elizabeth to marry him; she declined. They were both suspected of plotting against the king.
  • Jan 15, 1559

    Elizabeth is crowned Queen.

This was a very important event in her life. Being crowned as queen is a very big deal and changed her life very much.
  • Cousin Rivalry.

Mary, Queen of Scots, posed a threat to Queen Elizabeth. Elizabeth signed a warrant and had Mary executed. I would imagine that this was a somewhat tough choice for Elizabeth because they were cousins. It would be difficult to have your own cousin killed and feel nothing.
  • Advancing.

The Spanish Armada advances towards England. They hope to gain Catholic rule. Elizabeth was probably feeling threatened and pressured to do something soon.
  • Invasion.

The Spanish Armada invades. The Armada wants to gain Catholic rule over England. Elizabeth also gave a speech to her troops at Tibulry at this time.
  • Victory for Elizabeth.

Spain is defeated, they never even got their ships to land. Elizabeth must have felt proud that they had won.
  • Death.

Queen Elizabeth dies. She's succeeded by James I, son of Mary I who was Queen of Scots.
  • Queen is buried.

    The end of her reign.
