Columbus Finds America
Although Columbus was hailed as the discovrer of America during our elementary years we have learned that he didn't discover it. He wasn't even the first European to find it but he was the first European to create a colony in the Americas. -
13 Original Colonies
Although the date is incorrect the year of 1607 is when Virginia became the first colony. It was founded under a patent for the London Company. -
French and Indian War
The French and Indian War gained it's name from the British because the British were fighting against and with Indians as well as against the French. In this war Britain gained control of all 13 colonies and the Canada Territory. -
Boston Tea Party
A political protest against Britain's tea taxes of the colonies that was called the Boston Tea Party becuase a group of men dressed up as indians and destroyed 342 chests of tea. -
Revolutionary War
The Revolutionary War was triggered by many things including the Boston Tea Party and other similar events but it is not recoreded to begin until April 19, 1775 when 77 Minute Men and 700 British troops fired upon each other in Lexington, Massachusets. -
Writing the Constitution
The Representatives of Connecticut were presented with three plans. Eventually they were able to come up with a workable comprimise which is now the constitution. -
Industrial Revolution
The American Revolution is often attributed to a man named Samuel Slater who created the first industrial mill in th United States. The mill design was later adapted to work as a cotton mill and other similar factories. -
Lewis and Clark Expedition
The Lewis and Clark Expedition is the first American expedition the explore what is now the Western United States. This expedition was commisioned to explore the new Louisiana Territory and to find a pratical waterway to the Pacific Ocean. -
Missouri Compromise
The Missouri Compromise was and effort by Congress to quiet the rivalries created by Missouri's request to be apart of the Union as a slave state. -
Bleeding Kansas
The event Bleeding Kansas was a series of bloddy fights and events that occured over a period of 7 years. The event was kickstarted because if the intrductions of the Kansas and Nebraska bills. The Nebraska Bill was introduced on January 4, 1854.
