    By 1807 a British warship had overhauled an American navalfrigate. they demanded to seach the chesapeake for deserters, but the captain ot th chesapeake refused. then the British open fire, killing three sailors and wouding eifhteen. The Embargo was to stop all trade with Britain and France. The effect of the Embargo was that John Randolph of V.A. protests againts the "Dambargo" or "o Grab Me" (embargo spelled backward) mounted, leading in New England to angry talk of secession.
