    The United States made a policy to remain strictly neutral.
    The United States promised France for future conflicts because they helped them in American Revolution.
    We were able to trade
    George Washington thought we were not ready for another war.

  • Alien and Sediction Acts

    John Adams made laws to strengthen the security of the nation from foreign objects.
    To become a resident of the U.S., you have to be a resident for no less than 14 years before a foreigner became a U.S. citizen.
    John Adams took away votes from opposing parties to keep the nation secure.

  • War with Tripoli

    There was a naval war which was the Tripolitan War.
    The Tripoli leader was the one who issued a declaration of war.
    Jefferson sent warships to attack Tripoli.
    a peace treaty was signed and published between Tripoli and the U.S.
    Thomas Jefferson was going to take away the navy and the special funds but since they were going to have a naval war, Jefferson increased the size of the Navy.

  • Louisiana Purchase

    Louisiana Territory was being purchased from France.
    it was 3 cents a square acre.
    after all said and done it amounted to 15 million dollars.
    we got more states/land.
    we doubled in size.
    we got about 15 states from France.

  • Battle of Tippecanoe

    James Madison wanted indians to become farmers instead of hunters.
    James Madison issued a Battle of Tippecanoe.
    the battle was mainly in the Northwest Territory.
    By 1815, the Indians lost their land

  • Monroe Doctrine

    Latin America gained independence from Europe.
    Monroe Doctrine was created because of Latin America gaining independence.
    It is a policy statement which is a American Foreign poliy
    Latin America developed their old colonies that they had before Europe took over.

  • Tariff of Abominations

    There was taxes on foreign foods that got more expensive so then people couldnt buy alot because they didnt have that certain industry.
    The taxes were made to protect the Northern factories from foreign competition.
    The North had more factories than the South.
    The South ended up paying for the manufactoring of goods but lost money on the raw materials.

  • Indian Removal Act

    Andrew Jackson tried to get Indians to move to the west which is now Oklahoma.
    Indians refused so they went to court and found out that it was illegal to stay there.
    So the Indians were forced off their land.
    The Trail of Tears had happened while going to the West.
    4000 Cherokee died.
