    Alien and Sedition Acts
    President John Adams created a series of 4 laws that protected the United States better from foreigners. The first law stated that foreigners must be 14 years a resident befoer becoming a US citizen. The last 3 laws were about giving punishments and removal of foreigners for certain acts.   • War with Tripoli

    War with Tripoli
    North African Barbary states required money from US ships traveling through the Mediteranean in exchange for protection against pirate attacks. After a little bit, they requested more money, so president Thomas Jefferson refused to pay. The Barabary states declared war against the United States on May 14, 1801.     Louisiana Purchase

    Battle of Tippecanoe
    President James Madison pushed for Native Americans to quit hunting, and start farming instead to become more like the American settlers. After the Battle of Tippecanoe in the Northwest territory, Indians were pushed off their land, and was replaced by white Americans.   • Monroe Doctrine

    Monroe Doctrine
    Most Latin American countries gained independance from Europe, which made European countries want to 'stamp out' representative governments in the Americas. President James Monroe created the Monroe Doctrine, which warned the European Monarchies that they could expect a strong response from the US if they interferred with affairs in North or South America.     Tariff of Abominations
    President John Quincy Adamsapproved the Tariff of 1828, which was used to tax extra on foreign goods. The purpose of thhis being made was to protect factories in the Northern states from foreign competition. Although, the Southern states ended up paying more for manufactured goods, but lost money on raw materials because the foreign country bought less raw materials from them.   • Indian Removal Act

    Indian Removal Act
    US states violated treaties and seized Native American land, and president Andrew Jackson didnt stop them. He helped the Indian Removal Act, which wanted to force Indian tribes West.
