  • Monroe Doctrine Policy

    Monroe Doctrine Policy
This policy was issued by James Monroe. Europe was kind of taking over South America. The Europeans (powerful monarchies) threatened North America for making colonies on their land. If the U.S and Europe had a war, N.A wouldn't want to fight S.A because it's just below them. The Doctrine warned Europe that if they interfered with N.A and S.A, that they would do something, maybe attack or cancel trade(no one really knows). This made N.A and S.S more independent. (Territorial issue).

    Tariff of Abominations Policy
This policy was issued by John Quincy Adams. On May 19, 1828, to protect the Northern states from any competition from foreign states, they raised their taxes making it hard for the Southern states to pay them off. This lead to less resources being given to the Northern states, such as cotton.
  • Trail of Tears Policy

    Trail of Tears Policy
This policy was issued by Andrew Jackson. In 1830, Jackson made the Indian Removal Act. This was where the 5 Eastern Indian tribes would go into Indian territory, also known as, Oklahoma. Basically, the Indians were forced out of the U.S. then, were also forced to join the military. This lead to the starvation, disease, and exhaustion to the Indians, killing them off one by one. In addition, 4,000 out of 15,000 of the Cherokees died. Sine the Indians were dying off, the U.S gained more land.
