    Phoenix Junior College created to serve as a junior college in Phoenix. This first location led to the bustling community college district we know as MCCD today.
  • Bear Growls is published.

    Bear Growls is published.
    The student newspaper Bear Growls is published. Now students who are taking courses on journalism are working hands on, demonstrating skills they are learning. Students are working with first amendment rights within the public education system.
  • Phoenix College Elects first Black Student Body President

    Eldridge Gonaway was elected the first African American student body president. Phoenix College was never segregated, and events like this show that Phoenix College is committed to diversity and educated all learners.
  • Maricopa Junior College District

    Maricopa Junior College District
    With the creation of the Maricopa Junior College District, the city has recognized the efforts of Phoenix Junior College and are spreading the education to all over the valley. Reaching wider populations.
  • Technology Courses at Phoenix College

    The National Science Foundation introduced one of two pilot programs of Phoenix College for Computer Aided Instruction. The efforts of education happening here in the valley were noted on a national scale. The technology offerings give students an edge in the new electronic world.

    U.S. Student Debt hits one trillion dollars. While Phoenix College is very affordable, many students rely on student loans to attend school. Many students choose community college to lesser their personal debt, it is a responsibility to guide our students to success so they can pay off their loans.
