    This is the year Peter came into power. This was a big part in Russian history as though he was dubbed "The Great", he still did a lot of things that were "The Bad".
  • Peters brother, Ivan V, dies

    Peters brother, Ivan V, dies
    This played a big part in his ruling as he began getting more and more strict from this point on, This was a huge turning point in the timeline as he begins getting more... intense.
  • Begins trip through Western Europe

    Peter beings his voyage through Western Europe. Some would call his trip a "tour" as he went around Europe, spoke with many different rulers about their own rules and learned new things to bring back to his own domain.
  • Peter created tax on beards

    Peter created tax on beards
    Peter the "Great" decided that if you had a beard, you needed to cut it off and being an absolute ruler, he could make that happen with the snap of his fingers. This is one of the biggest events that make Peter more absolute than other rulers.
  • Changes the New Year

    In this event, Peter decides that September 1st wasn't a good new year, so he instead changes it to be January 1st, which is todays New Year. This level of absolutism where you can change days of months to different meanings is very big. This was also very big because the rest of the world decided that he was right as well so they then changed theirs to January 1st.
  • Peter is off to the Netherlands

    Peter is taking another "tour", only this time it is to the Netherlands. Every trip he takes makes him smarter and he learns new things about new places and gets new ideas for ruling every time. These trips also cost a lot of money but that wasn't a problem with him in power.
  • Found St. Petersburg (Leningrad)

    Peter the Great founds St. Petersburg, which today is still a very large and populated city. Founding a city takes a ton and I mean a TON of money... but for Peter there was no problem there since he could have it done whenever he wanted.
  • Peter sets big state tax

    This is the first statewide mandatory tax that he imposed upon his people. It wasn't stated exactly why he put the tax on his people, but this was another huge event because he hadn't done anything like this before and all of a sudden, he just throws out a tax for everyone this time, not just bearded men.
  • Peter's death and end of his reign

    Peter the Great of Russia died on January 28th, 1725 which marked the end of his absolute reign. Peter was a good ruler but he ruled with ultimate power and decision over everything.
  • Peter dies

    Peter dies
    A cold January morning where the townsfolk wake up and hear the news, their ruler isn't alive anymore. Death would obviously mean that this is the end of his rule and his time had come. By this time I wonder if his people were happy he died, or a bit sad maybe?
