Hudson developed a life long passion for exploring and ended up exploring the Arctic. He explored many places for the English.

    Peter the great was born on May 30, 1672 in Kremlin, Moscow. Peter's full name is Pyotr Alexeyevich most people remember him as "Peter the Great" or "Peter I". He was the first child born in his dads 2nd marriage. His parents are Tsar Alexis and Natalia Naryshkin. Peter was the 14th of Alexis 16 children which meant he was an unlikely heir to the Russian throne.

    Peter's parents are Tsar Alexis and Natalia Naryshkin. Natalia is a remote land owner to part of Russia while Tsar Alexis was in the throne for Russia. Tsar Alexis died when Peter was only 4 years old so Maria Miloslavsky's son went up tp throne. This caused Natalia's family to be pushed to the background. This caused Peter to become closer and closer to the throne.

    After Peter's father died he was brought up differently then his father and his older brothers. He was taught the old fashion methods. When Peter was 5 years old her started his education because his godfather, Tsar Theodore, said to his mother Natalia that he should start his lessons. Natalia told Theodore that she wanted Peter to have a loving and gentle teacher with the education of the Holy Bible.

    The Tsar Alexis died when Peter was just four years old. His older half-brother, Feodar III was next to the throne. Feodar was very sick and he died in 1682. His half-brother, Ivan V, inherited the throne, but he was also sick. Since Ivan was so sick and didn't have the right mind set for the throne the nobles chose Peter which he was only 10 years old to become Tsar with his mother. From 1682, the two brothers Ivan and Peter ruled together since Ivan couldn't do it on his own.

    In 1696, Peter who is now 24 years old is now running the Russian Kingdom. Peter is trying to westernize Russia and make it like Europe. This is when Peter became known as "Peter the Great". He was called this because before him ruling Russia was a big mess. When Peter took control things started to fall in line because he knew what he wanted.

    Peter focused educating his people with technology. He concentrated on developing commerce and industry and constructed a useful population. Since he wanted to modernize Russia he made the Russian alphabet, Julian calendar, and first Russian newspaper. In January 1699, towns were allowed to elect their own officials, collect profit and encourage trade.

This happened during the Islamic Golden Age and a collection was created with other folk tales in the Middle Eastern. These books were written in Arabic and it was the first things published in that writing.

    Benjamin Franklin was important in the fields of science, literature, and political science. He was born on on January 17, 1706 in Boston Massachusetts. Franklin went to two years of schooling, but kept up his education by reading. Then Franklin went to Philadelphia because his brother wouldn't let him write the newspaper. Ben did a lot after Peter died he made a lot of inventions which affected everyone's life in a good way.

    The Great Frost happened in England and France. It was the coldest winter in Europe since 500 years. With the cold it created low times in Europe no one was fighting and things were slowed down. This period of time was called Maunder Minimum. It was called this because it means that random sunspots come out of nowhere since it's so cold.

    Tea is introduced for the first time into the American Colonies. In England people had tea around 4 or 5 not later than 7 o'clcok. With the tea they have Savories, Scones, and Pastries. They had tea in the afternoon because they though it was considered to be highly and sound higher in rank.

    Alexei his oldest son didn't want anything to do with government, but Peter wanted him to be involved because Peter's opponents might come after Alexei. Peter and Alexei didn't have a good relationship, but he still wanted him to participate. Alexei didn't want to do anything except to live and relax on the country side. That's when Alexei was jailed, put on trial, and tortured. He was beat for 5 days straight and his wounds worsened and he was lead to death.

    Although Peter was a hardworking and effective leader he also had another side to him. Peter was also known to be cruel and using his power in a cruel way. Troubles that Peter dealt with like high taxes made the people go against each other and the imposing ruler had to fix it. Peter was helpful to Russia doing everything he could to make Russia how he wanted it, but he drank a lot and had a violent temper.

    Robert Walpole became the first Prime Minister at this time. He was the first prime minister for Great Britain. This means he was the head of the government and cabinet for the United Kingdom. When you are prime minister then you basically direct the whole government during this time. When he became the first one it wasn't a position, but slowly got created into one.

    Peter built Russia’s first real navy and made the army stronger. This caused Russia to have a lot of wins and victories in the military. Peter finally won land in Sweden which Sweden is their biggest enemy. This is where he established his first city and was Russia's capital, St. Petersburg. Moscow which was Russia's old capital got changed to St. Petersburg.

    Peter the Great died on February 8, 1725, without a say to who the new heir would be. Four years after getting the title of Emperor Peter comes to his death by Gangrene, which is a bladder infection. He got this from trying to help his crew from the ocean. He was 52 years old when he died and he leaves, Catherine, his wife with the reign of Russia.
