Schindler moved from svitavytomkrakow in October of 1939. Influenced by the German invasion and occupation he moved.

Schindler bought Rekord Ltd. in 1939. Rekord was a Jewish enamelware manufacturer, he converted in into the German Enamelware Factory Oskar Schindler. He employed Jewish workers from the Krakow ghetto. Schindler employed over 1,200 workers and 1,000 of them were Jewish.

In March of 1943, after the liquidation of Kraków ghetto, Schindler allowed his Jewish workers to stay over night.

Schindler persuaded the S.S. To convert Emalia into a subcamp of Plaszow. This allowed over 450 Jews to become workers at his factory.

In 1944 Schindler sought and relocated his plant, Brnenec, in Moravia. It was converted into an arms factory and he would need 1,200 Jews to work there for him.

Schindler left Brunnlitz in 1945, right after the Soviet Union liberated the camp.

In 1962 Schindler was awarded the righteous among nations award from Yad Vashem.
