There is much debate concerning the date of the Exodus. When debate occurs, one should always define the terms in discussion. Zondervan's Pictorial Bible Dictionary defines the term Exodus by stating that it is the "event which terminated the sojourn of Israel in Egypt". One's conclusion does not disqualify him from being a Christian, yet it is important to historical accuracy and biblical interpretation when teaching the text... -
Pt. 2 According to Encountering the Old Testament by Bill T Arnold and Bryan E. Beyer the two dates in discussion are 1446 BC and 1275 BC.
Dating the Exodus at 1446 BC is more historically accurate than dating it at 1257 BC. According to the ESV Commentary “working from the figure of 480 years found in 1 Kings 6:1 for the time since the exodus to Solomon’s fourth year calculate a date of 1446 BC”. When literally adding up the numbers found in the Word of God the earlier date is the conclusion.. -
Pt 4 One should not worry about negative Egyptian records because they would not write about this dramatic defeat. The conservative and correct date of the Exodus is 1446 BC.
