  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    This war was fought between the British and the French along with the American Indian Allies. This was such an important event for North America because many of the battles were fought there and the ultimate reasoning for this war was the fight over territorial expansion between the English and the French. British would win this war, gaining all of North America.
  • Industrial Revolution

    Industrial Revolution
    The industrial revolution initially began in England and the came to the United States. This revolution consisted of innovations in manufacturing, mining, transportation, and communication. This revolution drastically transformed human life in North America.
  • Population Growth

    Population Growth
    As a result of the Industrial reovlution, there were better job opportunities, more reliable food supplies, and large amounts of migration. Also, with more children being born, there began more child labor. Because of all these things there was a huge increase in poplation around the world. North America having the largest increase.
  • Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre caused tensions between the British and the Americans because the first killing had occured. It was at this point that the Americans realized that the British were no longer their allies and that their freedom was in danger.
  • American Revolution

    The thirteen colonies--fed up with being taxed to fund for the British--unite together to fight for their freedom. The colonists send their requests to the British and they respond to this by threatening more of their liberties and impose the Stamp Act. This causes an uprise in North American and is the beginning of many boycotts and protests.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Indepence was a document that stated the thirteen colonies were now considered Indepent states and no longer under British control. The men who contributed to this document were the leaders of the American Revolution. Thomas Jefferson wrote the official document.
  • Articles of Confederation

    The Articles of Confederation were the first governing document for the United States. Although this document ended up failing to provide a strong national government, it was the start to something the United States was in desperate need of.
  • Manifest Destiny

    Manifest Destiny was the "God-Given Right" that America had to expand West. Much of this belief came from American nationalism. If it were not for this expansion, all of the land that had been gained, may have fallen under the rule of a different country.
  • Civil War

    This was a brutal war fought between the Confederate States (Southern States) of America and the Union (Northern States). This was lasted for four years. Two of the main reasons for fighting this war were the fights over slavery and federal vs. state rights. The Union states won this war.
  • Emancipation Proclamation

    This was proclaimed by commander in chief, Abraham Lincoln. This proclamation is what freed the slaves of the south. This was put into the 13th Ammendment which outlawed slavery in the United States.
