The Battle of Buena Vista took place. In this battle US army prevailed despite the fact that they were outnumbered 15,000 to 5,000.
US invaded Mexico City and Santa Anna fled to exile in Jamaica.
The Treaty of Guadeloupe Hidalgo was signed. Though it had yet to be ratified by both the US and Mexican Congresses it officially ended the war.
