The conservative Bruning tried to protect Germany by using increased taxation, high tariffs, and continued reparation payments, but his actions crippled the German economy. He disbanded the Reichstag in 1930 after they fought these policies. With the reelection in September, more Nazis and Communistst were represented in the legislative body.
