    Christopher Columbus discovers the New world

    Christopher Coloumbus set sail form a spanish port named palos, on August 3, 1492. He sailed three ships, the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria, to the Canary Islands then traveled west. He landed in the Americas on October 12, 1492.
  • Feb 2, 1519

    Hernan Cortes conquers the Aztecs

    Hernan Cortez is well know for conquering the aztecs in South America as well as Colonizing Mexico for Spain. The main attack from Cortez occurred in 1521.
  • Jul 10, 1522

    Bartolome de Las Casas Criticizes the Spanish

    Bartolome de las Casas was a friar who was one of the first newcomers to the Americas. He was a religious man who witnessed some of the atrocities commited on Native Americans by the Spainish.
  • Founding of Jamestown

    The Jamestown Colony was the first long lasting english colony. Located in Virginia, it was mainly a farming colony that went through a famine at one point. We have kept many traditions from Jamestown and helped shape the rest of the colonies to come.
  • King Philip's War

    King Philip's War was a war against the Native Americans and The English Settlers. It was the last push the Indians attempted in order to drive away the colonists. The war destroyed 12 towns. It was eventually ended when the Native Americans were plagued by diseases.
  • Bacon’s Rebellion

    Bacon’s Rebellion
    Bacon's Rebellion was a revolt against the William Berkeley for denying him the right to trade with the Indians. The rebellion was led by Nathaniel Bacon who raised almost a thousand angry Virginaians to fight for his cause.
  • French and Indian War

    The French and Indian War also knowns as the seven years war was started by the French encroaching on British claims in the New World. Most of the Battles took place in Virginia and after a long war it eventually ended in 1763 after a peace conference.
  • Pontiac’s War

    Pontiac's War was started by an Indian chief named Pontiac. His plan was to rally all the Indian tribes an attack and claim the nearest British fort. Obviously he failed, when a British Major learned of his plot an were prepared. A treaty was signed later, and Pontaic was killed by rival Indians.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    The Proclamation of 1763 was given by King George III, which stated that the colonies expansion westward would come to a close and the areas west of the Applachians be off limits to settlers. The proclomation was no doubt started because of the French and Indian War.
  • Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris is one of the most famous documents in American History because it ended the revolutionary war and gave America its independence of Great Britain.
  • Treaty of Greenville

    The Treaty of Greenville was a treaty of peace between settler and the Native Americans. It would give settlers more land and in turn they would have to respect the Indians.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    The Louisana Purchase was a purchase America made. It almost double the size of America. With 828,000,000 square miles it stretched from the Mississppi river to the Rockies.
  • Lewis and Clark Expedition

    The Lewis and Clark Expedition was the first American to cross the western part of the united states.
  • Tecumseh and The Prophet

    Tecumseh and The Prophet was a story about a war chief, Tecumseh, and his brother who had visions and became a religious leader.
  • Creek War

    The Creek War was a regional war between the creek indians, Europeans, and Americans. The battle took place in Alabama and the Gulf Coast.
  • Indian Removal Act

    The Indian Removal Act was a lae created by Andrew Jackson, that required the indians to rellocate further west. This caused the Trail of Tears.
  • Worcester v. Georgia

    Worcester v. Georgia was a supreme court case in 1832. It stated that Native Americans could not tresspass outside of their territory unless they had a license to do so.
  • Trail of Tears

    The Trail of Tears was the great journey the Native Americans had west when they were forced to move from their homes. Many died on the trip, hence the trail of tears.
  • Oregon Trail

    The Oregon Trail was a journey taken by the settlers from Missouri to Oregon and California. About a 1000 pioneers made the journey at a time.
  • Gold discovered in California

    Gold discovered in California The pioneers moved to the west coast for more rescources but unexpectedly found gold. Which started a gold rush where everyone wanted to get rich.
  • Passage of the Homestead Act

    The Homestead Act allowed settlers in the western Americas to put up a claim for up to 160 acres.
  • Sand Creek Massacre

    The Sand Creek Massacre was when the Colorado militia pillaged a peaceful Indian tribe. They killed most of the indians, women and children.
  • Diminished Buffalo Herds

    The American Buffalo is extinct now due to the overhunting of them. It was the prominent food source for settlers moving west.
  • Gold in the Black Hills, and the Ft. Laramie Treaty

    The Treaty of Fort Laramie was a treaty signed by the Lakota people and the United States. It guranteed the lakota people land that could only be theirs.
  • Battle of Little Bighorn

    The Battle of Little Bighorn took place in Montana. The battle was won by the Lakota, Cheyenne, and Arapaho. Also none as Custer's last stand, it was a great loss to the U.S. army because of the great loss of life.
  • Nez Perce War

    The Nez Perce War was a conflict between the Nez Perce tribes and the United States. The battles started from the growing anger for the colonists taking over their land.
