Native American Battles agains the Army

  • Little Bighorn

    George Custer led an expedition into the Black Hills and claimed he discovered gold, as the gold miners rushed in the area the Sioux, Cheyenne and Arapaho went on the warpath. As Custer’s 7th Cavalry went in to subdue them, he foolishly attacked a force of 2500 with only 250 in Montana and were wiped out. The Native Americans victory was short-lived as more soldiers were sent into the area. The Indians won this battle but they will lose the war.

  • Wounded Knee

    Also known as the Battle of Wounded Knee, and it was a domestic massacre of about 300 Lakota. It was the last conflict between the army and the Native Americans. In 1890, the US troops would try to disarm a group of Sioux, shots were then fired and the troops ended up massacring around 200 men, women, and children.
