Bill France Sr, organized a meeting in the Streamline hotel which would ultimately lead to the creation of Nascar.

First race

Nascar held their first official strict stock race on this day at the Charlotte speedway in North Carolina. Jim Roper won a $2000 cash prize since Dunnaway was disqualified for illegal rear springs.

"The lady in black"

Darlington International Speedway, nicknamed the lady in black became Nascar's first asphalt super speedway host.

First Daytona 500

Feb 22, 1959

First African American to win a major Nascar event

Wendell Scott took the checkered flag in the speedway park in Jacksonville, Florida.

Winston cup series

Nationwide Resign
