    The Battle of Trafalgar was a naval battle between the British Navy and a combined fleet of the French and Spanish. This took place during the War of the Third Coalition.
    This battle was a big loss for napoleon and the French. They lost 22 ships while the British lost none.

    The Roman Empire fell when Emperor Francis II abdicated. He created a 38 member Confederation of the Rhine. This helped him gain some support but also ended up back firing.

    Napoleon wanted to invade England but lost the Battle of Trafalger. After this he decided to attack Britain’s economy through the Continental System. The Continental System closed ports to British goods. This ruined Europe’s economy as a whole and triggered the 1812 war with America and Britain.

    Napoleon introduced reforms that undermined the Spanish Catholic Church. The Spaniards did not like this because many were devoted to it. The Spanish resisted them but the French responded harshly. The Spanish used guerilla warfare and did hit and run raids against the French. T
    This was bad for Napoleon because it exhausted resources and soldiers. This lasted until 1814.

    The Tsar withdrew his support for the Continental System so Napoleon formed an army of 600000. The Russians avoided battles with the army and burned crops and villages to starve the huge army. He reached Moscow in September but realized he wouldn’t be able to make it through the winter so he retreated. While retreating the Russians attacked them several times and only 20000 of the 600000 lived.
    This was a crushing defeat for Napoleon.

    Russia, Britain, Austria, and Prussia all formed an alliance to take down an already weakened France. The Battle of nations was fought at Leipzig from October 16 to 19 of 1813. The alliance defeated Napoleon.

    After the defeat in The Battle of Nations, Napoleon abdicated and was exiled to Elba. The French people crowned Louis XVIII as new king. Many people didn’t want the old ways to return and they started to support Napoleon again. Napoleon escaped and returned to power.
