My Top 5 Vacation Destinations

  • Big Bend Park

My uncle, who is an avid outdoorsman, decided to arrange a weekend with my dad and myself, to spend a day at Michigan's Adventure and explore the outdoors for a couple days, while staying at his hunting camp not far from this park. When we first came up there, my uncle drove down to this park, and I will never forget the view of the lake from atop the high hills at this park.
  • Doll's Paradise Lake Resort

Usually every year, my family would always take a week-long family vacation each summer, but my mom couldn't get any time off work until August. Lucky enough, there was still enough summer to vacation, so we found this little lakefront motel just south of the Mackinac Bridge, just minutes away from many different state parks.
  • Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore

My family spent a week up at Munising, where my mom wanted to explore the beautiful Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. We spent the week up there hiking, stopping at the lakeshore's many public beaches and taking a boat cruise to see all the sights along the water.
  • Oscoda Beach Park

I remember first seeing this beach when my family drove up to go to Tawas for the day. My mom had also seen just north of Tawas on the map the town of Oscoda, so before we left Tawas after spending the afternoon at the beach, she wanted to see Oscoda. And what do you know it, my family followed the street signs to Oscoda Beach Park, and was my family surprised when we saw the beautiful sugar sandy beach. My folks loved the beach of Oscoda so much, they bought a condo up there not far from there.
  • Elbow Lake Bar

Right as the summer of 2009 was coming to an end, my uncle knew I wanted to come up to his cottage for a weekend of ORV riding and enjoying the outdoors at his RV park up near Houghton Lake. That Saturday as we were ORV riding in the woods, we happened to come across this bar.
